The Shish Bar Group has just opened a new bar in Bayswater (71 Bishops Bridge Road), but the Old Street and Willesden Green bars have long been established as a great night out. On Thursdays at Old Street resident DJ Wrongtom spins a mix of global hip-hop, reggae, breaks and soul, with guests Long Distance Dan and Grip. On alternate Fridays, DJ Gee plays a fusion of world-influenced beats and DJ Soul Provyder (Black2Basics) serves up Afro-Latin grooves and future funk. On Fridays, drinkers at Shish Willesden Green can chill out with their delicious Holy Shish cocktails on the leafy roof terrace as DJ Jack Hooker starts the weekend with laid-back world-beat tunes. Admission is free, with music from 7.30pm. The Shish bars draw their inspiration from countries found across the historic Silk Road, to offer an evening spent with exotic cocktails, mezze platters and live world music.
