The second branch of this ‘Silk Road’ restaurant covers cuisine from Turkey to Indonesia and has a first-rate juice bar in the main restaurant, perfect for smuggling some vitamins into junior diners (try the striped mixed fruit juice). For adults, there’s a fixed ‘Silk Road’ choice of dishes, plus a shifting menu (Middle Eastern when we visited), while the £4.25 kids’ menu offers fish cakes, Mediterranean chicken or a falafel and houmous wrap (all served with rice, chips or salad), followed by an ice-cream or sorbet. Tasty, healthy and great value. The restaurant has something of a canteen feel, yet was less busy than we expected. In the past, Shish has seemed to emphasise the décor above the food but this wasn’t the case on our most recent visit.
Buggy access. Children’s menu (£4.25). High chairs. No smoking
Branches: 2-6 Station Parade, Willesden Green, NW2 4NH (020 8208 9290)
