Evening Standard - July 2007
The team at the evening standards ES magazine rated the Shish falafel as a "star buy". Our chefs make & taste our falafel daily which is why it is simply great.
Here is what the ES team reported in the magazine: BARGAIN/BOUTIQUE FALAFEL
MAOZ - Maoz cooks up classic, no-frills falafel that tastes far better than it looks. It may resemble a withered meatball and the filling may be on the dry side, but the deep-fried coating is crispy and the seasoning on target.
SHISH - Shish's chefs taste their falafel daily and it shows. A splendidly crisp outer shell encases a green herb filling that is light, fluffy and delicately flavoured. The accompanying green tahini tastes pretty good, too.
LEON - Healthy fast-food joint Leon gives traditional falafel a novel twist, trading chickpeas fro sweet potato and spices. The result is a baby-food smooth filling whose sweet potato flavour is enhanced by its seasoning. But we prefer the Real McCoy.
